On December 7, 1941, hikotaicho Lt. Cmdr. Shigekazu Shimazaki (first squadron), Lt. Jyozo Iwami (second squadron)
and Lt. Yoshiaki Tsubota (third squadron) were leaders of ZUIKAKU's high level bomber force with 27 Nakajima B5N2,
divided in 3 chutai (9 planes unit) during the second wave attack. All squadron attacked Hickam Field.
EII-301 was flown by a hikotaicho, Lt. Cmdr. Shigekazu Shimazaki.

The crew were F1c Masato Hatakenaka (pilot), PO2c Shuichi Ueno (observer/bombardier/navigator) and
F1c Kingoro Oizumi (radioman/gunner). This crew was Shimazaki's #3 wingman and was flying off his right wing.
The empennage base color is brown.

With the last moment shift in aircraft and personnel, EII-307 is an ex-Kaga KATE. Note how green was used to
wipe out the Kaga red tail code, and a new red tail code applied...the tail code and meatball are the same density
in the black and white aerial photos, but not the vertical tail: which is still "Kaga" brown. The undersurface of Kaga B5N
were painted M3, unlike the Zuikaku I3. There may be the residual marking of the old Kaga large training number under
both wings...Zuikaku B5N had no such training numbers.
